1ST South-East Asian Games for Arnis, 2005

The 2005 South East Asian Games hosted by the Philippines introduced a new event, which was to become the country’s national sport, arnis. The competition was held on December 1 to 4, 2005 at the Emilio Aguinaldo College gymnasium in Ermita, Manila.

Arnis was introduced also in 1991’s South East Asian Games as a demonstration sport.

After the 6 arnis events, Philippines and Vietnam tied at 3 gold medals and 3 silver medals each. The following countries are East Timor with 3 bronze medals (including the first ever medal in the SEA Games) and the Kingdom of Cambodia with 2 bronze medals.
